[Please, Miss, I wrote this post a day or so ago and my software ate it.]
I’m sure Hak Mao will correct me if it’s not, but this BBC News article reads to me like a balanced account for outsiders of the importance of international security considerations in the election race in Australia. Shocker.
Apologies in advance for the length…
I loathe John Howard so much that I usually cannot bear to watch TV news. As much as I deplore his grandstanding and the way he wraps himself in the flag every chance he gets, the security situation is not predicated solely on Australia’s involvement in UKUSA led coalition. As the article points out, Labor think that Australia should be concentrating on regional threats, a JI attack on Australian soil could possibly hasten an Australian withdrawal from Iraq, but there would be an intensification of effort against JI.
Australians are always desperate to be noticed. There was a Taliban spokesperson/minister giving a press conference before they were ousted. He was issuing a list of threats against the usual suspects – Jews, Americans, Jews, large statues of Siddartha Gautama, Jews, apostates, American apostate Jews… Anyway, the ABC reporter started asking “what about Australia”. The guy just looked at him, then said words to the effect “sure Australia too if you want”.
And don’t mention East Timor. Apparently it was an indivisible part of the Umma, if this sort of logic appeals:
I suggest to the Australian people and government, if you all want to be safe and good, please try to embrace Islam because you are created by Allah for Islam. It’s only now that you are being disturbed by demons. If you are still unwilling not to embrace Islam, do not follow the steps of George Bush.
So the East Timorese were created for Islam too, and with Kopassus loitering about they could bloody well like it! It is utterly shameful that it had to be a conservative government which finally went some of the way towards paying the debt of blood Australia has owed the Timorese since WWII, after successive supposedly “social democratic” governments had turned their backs. For quarter of a century the only voices raised in defence of East Timorese independence were those of the soldiers and their descendents who owed their lives to the Timorese, plus a handful of Marxists.
Bloody italics! If you are especially feeling generous, would you mind awafully adding a slash in the right place. xxx
No problem. You’ve written more in this ‘Blog today than I have, after all.
I said sorry. Won’t do it again – promise.
rotflol. Yeah Hak, stop slaving in PooterGeek’s comment boxes and get some of your ascerbic wit on your own blog. If you keep on posting here, PG will start slacking off. I can feel he’s building up to a fantastic satire piece, stop disturbing him.
CAIR, you know what will happen to muslims that work for organizations like CAIR after the next big attack
against America by muslims, you will be rounded-up and put in concentrations camps the way the Germans and
Japanese were in America during WWII (and the way Jews were in Germany) There is talk of it now, wait and see.
You will be sent out west, you will eat internal organs from cows, pigs, and chickens, they will be mixed together
to make hotdogs and lunchmeat. You will eat it or starve to death. You will wish you never heard of islamm.
