Scott Ritter is on BBC Radio Bloke right now. His opening argument is that Bush Snr was wrong because he was obsessed with removal of Saddam Hussein’s regime above all else. And that he was wrong because he stopped the first Iraq war before regime change. Now he is comparing Bush Jnr and Blair to Nazi war criminals and the invasion of Iraq by the coalition to that by Germany of Denmark in WWII. He’s shouting. I think I can hear some scuffling in the background.

It was appalling. You could almost hear the other people in the room suddenly realising he was a crackpot, after initially being lulled into a false sense of security by thinking “Scott Ritter, he should know what he is talking about”.
What are his views on Saddam’s underpants, anyone? Crime against humanity would be my vote.
Ritter is a tool. He’s saying now that that the WMD issue was a complete sham intended by the USA and Britain to deceive world opinion. This doesn’t quite square with the fact that before the war he believed Iraq still had an NBC capability. Read ‘Endgame’ (published 2002) if you don’t believe me. The question that someone ought to ask Ritter is this:
‘Were you party to the US-UK’s efforts to fool the world into believing that Saddam’s Iraq was a threat to peace and security, or were you conned as well?
This leads to two further questions:
‘If the former is true, having been a party to such deceit how can we regard you as a credible witness?’
‘If the latter is true, how did a mong like you end up working for UNSCOM?’
