An earlier post of mine might have been construed as criticism of respected rapper and member of the community of People Of Colour Notorious B.I.G.. Since writing that entry in my Weblog I have been informed by two of my readers that Mr B.I.G. is, in fact, deceased. I think I and everyone here will agree that his contributions to the performing arts and the recording industry will be recognized for centuries to come for their profound musical importance and their impact upon fields as wide-ranging as philosophy, literature, and geophysics. Our thoughts are with him, his family, and his crew at this difficult time.

Dead or not, he wasn’t actually that bad when alive. it’s the law of ever diminishing returns though, greedy estate=everything he scrawled down on a napkin being released.
The perhaps undeserved hagiographies notwithstanding, Biggie actually was quite talented. He was a storyteller, he had a brain, and he was extremely skilled in his medium.
Yeah. So was Jack the Ripper.
> extremely skilled in his medium
Have you heard of prog rock?
Squander,
I’m not sure what you’re getting at, but it sounds like you mean to say that being extremely skilled in your medium does not mean you’re worth listening to. Fair enough, we can always instance Fuzak (I never got into prog rock), but Biggie is nothing like that.
Undeserved hagiography?
Chris Rock had a routine where he said something like – in reference to descriptions that Biggie had been assassinated – “Martin Luther King, assassinated. Malcom X, assassinated….Now I like Biggie and I like Tupac, but school is going to be IN on their birthdays.”
Actually, it was even better than that:
Thimble, I thought of quoting that too, it’s certainly how I look at them. To the younger than me they can be seen as a perfect symbol, a la Kurt Cobain, Hendrix, even Jim Morrison (spit). They can’t get old and fat and rubbish (apart from Morrison, who managed two before he died. Oh and Biggie, who was always fat), therefore it’s safe to regard them as untouchable heroes.
Perhaps you could pay tribute to the Notorious R.I.P. by incorporating some of his flava into your political posts: you may not be interested in the dialectic muthafucka, but the dialectic is gonna bust a cap in your ass!
