My favorite line is the MoD spokesman’s plaint that “We just do not want to go and have people trade off our reputation.” Granted, the NY Mets could benefit by trading off practically anyone else’s reputation these days (I say this with love), but I don’t think the “Met Office” (what is that, anyway?) would leap to anyone’s mind.
The fact is they should be celebrating the NY Mets’ bold move in attempting to thwart the globalization of the Yankees brand, which I see perched on foreheads in very unlikely corners of the world. Let’s get our priorities straight, shall we?
Priceless.
