Dear Mr. Counselll;
I just noticed your Normblog profile and wonder if you have already found your next job. I see that you like California. My husband did his PhD and postdoc in cell biology at Stanford with Michael Levitt. Should I ask him to e-mail you? As a liberal arts type, I can’t tell how close your fields are.

Thanks for asking. I haven’t.

Michael Levitt is, by strange coincidence, a very big name in “my” field. Whether or not he or your husband would be impressed by my own current work is another question. Please do ask your husband to get in touch with me, however. My work contact details are here.
Sorry to be off-topic in the comments, but I don’t have your e-mail address. My husband Britt says the CV looks interesting and will forward it to Michael. He doesn’t know whether Michael is looking for people right now or not, but you never know. Are you interested in bio-tech industry jobs? Britt could call a couple of other Levitt alums around here doing that. Britt himself is doing private enterprise software stuff, out of the field, but still in contact with people from the old days.

Hello Ilana,
Thanks for asking. I haven’t.

Thank you.
An auto-da-fe of cardinals?
Great – I sent him the link!
It’s clearly an “unexpectedness” of cardinals, or possibly a “comfy chair”, but your correspondence with Ilana is much more exciting.

*pokes Damian* Say yes! Say yes! Come to the dark side of biotech! 😀
No need to apologise, Ilana. My work email is:
“d dot counsell at hgmp dot mrc dot ac dot uk”
I spell it out like that so the spam robots can’t read it, but feel free to pass it and my CV on to anyone you think might be interested.
