Often I write stuff here and, as I click ‘Publish’, I think, “Is that really funny or am I just deluding myself? Has sitting alone here in my pyjamas reading the news on the Web sent me a bit mad?” Perhaps my cackling at the absurdity of life, politics, and everything is in fact a symptom of some chemical imbalance in my brain. Today I recalibrated my sense of humour by examining what passes for funny on the Liberal Democrat Website. I am a comedy genius.

I don’t understand the thing with the duck. It’s not even lame.
The only humorous thing that the Lib Dems managed at the last election was my constituency candidates campaign literature. The candidate, who looked in the first place like a complete scally, had no end of pictures on his leaflet. Unfortunately, not only was he wearing the same suit in all of them, but also the same shirt, which said to me he either did one day of campaining, or he has lower standards of personal hygiene than I would consider acceptable in an elected representative.
Better still, one of the photos had clearly been messed around with in Photoshop, because he had two left ears in it.
Painful as it is for me to defend the Lib Dems, I think it’s meant to be a stuffed dodo rather than a lame duck. And it’s definitely lame.
