She was funny and seemed nice and I’m not just saying that because she’s dead. I’ll miss listening to her.

Haven’t clicked the link, Geek, but I know of whom you speak. I am shocked too – 48! – no age at all really. And yes, she had funny bones. Of all ‘The News Quiz’ regulars she was the most witty, more so than Alan Coren or Jeremy Hardy I think. One her lines suggesting that the royal balcony on special occasions looked ‘like carnival time on the island of Dr Moreau’ still makes laugh out loud to this day. I’ll miss her.

I can’t think of a single woman who came close to being as funny, clever, and yes, nice, as her on all those R4 shows.
Amen. And quite a lot wittier than either Coren or Hardy, alas. There is something awfully tired about that show, and will be pretty near exhausted without her.
She was amusing even when you disagreed with her, but Hardy and Coren just repeat common and boring mantras of the day.

I know at least one. Seriously, though, very sad news. I had no idea she was ill. Or that she was as old as 48. She seemed so down to earth. Somehow you kid yourself that people like that are immune from disease and death.
