The hippies at Libra Aries are, I think, onto PooterGeek. Now they are choosing the books they put in their window specifically to vex me. Today’s volume is Alex Constantine’s Psychic Dictatorship in the USA. Of course it would be easier to mock if the Republican Party wasn’t seriously considering mental health screening for all children (possibly as part of the creepily named “New Freedom Initiative” for the disabled) and this hadn’t been on the agenda in Illinois.
[Thanks to Hind and one of the serious medical journals, but I can’t remember which one. Perhaps They erased my mind.]
PG: Psychic Dictatorship, in turn, mocks any media-programmed American conformist who is so full of ego-based, fantasy brainwashing that he cannot recognize reality when he sees it. Herd mentality must have a “fringe,” and conformists are programmed to mock it. In Nazi Germany, the herd knew “atrocity stories,” as rumors of the genocide were called, to be no more than fringe lunacy to be mocked and ignored. The same principle is at work here. So … you feel a psychological need to mock the “atrocity stories” in Psychic Dictatorship – but you are experiencing a growing realization that the country is not the bastion of democracy you once believed it to be?
What does that say of the consensus reality around you? And who do you think will have the last laugh – I probably won’t because I’m too concerned about the direction the country is going, but I have a claim to it, at least. You, on the other hand, have already stopped laughing, as you admit.
Heh.
– Alex Constantine
PS – Conformity of mind is not a virtue.
